Midwest Skiers win 2011 NCWSA All Stars

The Midwest Region won the team title at the 17th Collegiate NCWSA All-Stars Water Ski Championships, May 14-15, at Beaver Lake in Ahoskie, N.C.

The event included the top-10 men and top-10 women from each of the National Collegiate Water Ski Association's four regions vying for a team title and individual titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.  The Midwest Region tallied 11,295 points. The Eastern Region finished runner-up with 9,765 points, followed by the defending champion Western Region (4,540 points) and the South Central Region (4,400 points).

Congrats to the Minnesota skiers who participated in the 2011 NCWSA All Stars!  We're all very proud!

Individual performances for Minnesota skiers:

Skiing for the champion Midwest team:

  • Mathew Knafla (Iowa State) placed 7th Overall, 7th in slalom with 3 at 35 off, 9th in trick with 1790 pts, and 28th in jump with 76  feet
  • Heather Donen (University of Wisconsin-Madison) tied for 6th Overall, placed 10th in slalom with 2.5 at 22 off, 14th in trick with 360 pts, and 5th in jump with 78 feet

Skiing for the South Central:

  • Alison Lindy (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) placed 3rd Overall, 3rd in slalom with 3 at 35 off, and 3rd in jump with 113 feet
